September TECH TALK…
The Gold Microphone goes to Paul Blum, K9ARF, for the great presentation about Radio Frequency Interference.. How to find out where it is coming from and how to keep it out of your radio. As some of you know, I have been plagued with Broadcast radio interference that wiped out the 80 and 40 meter band SSB at my home. He was able to produce a filter that cleared that up and after a year and a half, I am now able to renew my contacts on those bands.. Thanks Paul..
If you have a topic that you are familiar with and wish to pass on the knowledge before the October meeting, let our President Paul KB9ØP know so we can let others know the subject of the Talk..
GBM&K Meeting: October 12th
The September meeting was, once again, a full house. Thanks to all that came and participated.
This month of October is an important one. This will be the first of the nominations for the 2024 Executive Board. Each year, all the Board positions are open for nominations.. At the end of the election which takes place at the November Annual Meeting of the Corporation, (which all paid members belong to) They meet and chose which Officer position they will accept for the coming year. If you are going to nominate someone, be sure they will accept the nomination.

Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday,
Oct. 4.
The
WEA portion of the test will be directed to all consumer cell phones. This will
be the third nationwide test, but the second test to all cellular devices. The
test message will display in either English or in Spanish, depending on the
language settings of the wireless handset.
The
EAS portion of the test will be sent to radios and televisions. This will be
the seventh nationwide EAS test.
The purpose of the Oct. 4 test is to ensure that the systems
continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies,
particularly those on the national level. In case the Oct. 4 test is postponed
due to widespread severe weather or other significant events, the back-up
testing date is Oct. 11.

October 14th Bear Paw Camp… Scouting
This Scouting event is held at Bear Paw Scout Camp near Mountain. We usually set up our EComm Trailer, string up an antenna and provide the needed means of radio communications for those working on their Radio Merit Badge.. also tweaks the interest of those stopping by… Scouts as well as their parents. A one day event for us this year. This means an early start to set everything up..
JOTA: October 21st /22nd Jamboree On The Air
This event is when the Scouts have an opportunity to try to contact other Scouts from around the world via Radio.. We just provide the means and mentoring to do that. We have been asked to set up for this activity to provide for JOTA as well as for the radio merit badge. The location has been changed to the Scout Center near New Franken These are two very active Scout Troops. So we may need two stations … do you have a portable HF station??
Helping to keep you
Radio Active…. Come and join in…
